It's the very wetness of Llyn Mawr which makes it a special site for lovers of all things aquatic - particularly plants and birds. Visitors are usually rewarded with sightings of duck, waders and a variety of water loving plants. Visits on warm, sunny summer days can reward you with an abundance of dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies. The lake has a rich variety of plant life, which is why it has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
