About the event
Join us at Dolydd Gobaith for an hands-on introduction to grassland surveying.
Whether you are completely new or already have some botanical knowledge, this session will show you how to assess grassland condition using simple survey techniques. You'll learn to recognise key positive and negative indicator species and practise recording them.
This is a friendly, practical session with plenty of guidance throughout, and a great opportunity to build confidence in plant ID while contributing to real conservation monitoring.
What to expect
- A steady walk with regular stops through species-rich grassland, often on steep terrain
- Hands-on use of 1m2 quadrats and simple recording methods
- Guidance on recognising indicator species that tell us about grassland health
- Informal, supportive learning - no prior experience needed
Good to know
This is an outdoor field session involving walking over uneven grassland, often on steep terrain, and pausing regularly to survey plants. The route will follow planned survey lines.
