Wild to Work

Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust Severn Farm Pond Nature Reserve

The ‘Wild to Work’ scheme is a new Partnership Project with initial funding for one year with the DWP (Department of Work & Pensions) and the WEA (Workers Education Association).

Its main aim is to help long term unemployed people back to work through volunteer work on nature reserves, working positively as part of a team, and attending short courses to increase their employability (such as First Aid, Manual Handling, and Job Interviews). However, it will also benefit the MWT nature reserves by increasing the amount of work done on them for the good of wildlife and the people who visit them. The DWP will recommend a group of volunteers who will stay on the scheme for a period of 13 weeks.
