Ty Brith
|
A pocket full of flowers
This is how a meadow should be: lots of different grasses,
wildflowers, insects, butterflies and thick, natural hedgerows.
All this cover provides food and protection for small mammals
such as field mice and shrews and shelter for ground nesting
birds like the skylark and meadow pipit.
This small site (5.7ha/14 acre) of four fields is probably
the largest group of unimproved hay meadows in
Montgomeryshire and in recognition of this has been
notified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
