Wildlife Trusts Wales – Wildlife Partnerships Scheme

The six Wildlife Trusts in Wales work together to protect wildlife for the future. Between us, we have more than 32,000 members. We work in partnership with public and private sector organisations across the whole of Wales. We manage 230 nature reserves, covering more than 6,000 hectares of prime wildlife habitat - from rugged coastline to urban wildlife havens. We are currently helping to improve sites across Wales for important species including the otter, red squirrel, dormouse, water vole, bottle-nosed dolphin, harbour porpoise, southern damselfly and the marsh fritillary butterfly. The Trusts, through the Wildlife Partnerships scheme, are encouraging local businesses to get involved in conservation, for the benefit of us all.

Features and Benefits of the Wildlife Partnerships Scheme:

As a Wildlife Partner you will choose to become involved with Wildlife Trusts Wales at a level that suits the development of your business. You will also choose a level of financial contribution to match your budget. All contributions are highly valued.

In addition to the sense of satisfaction that comes from directly supporting wildlife in Wales, your choice of membership level will determine the elements of your membership package. Typical features are:

  • Access to Wildlife Trusts Wales training courses and events.
  • Free Wildlife Trusts Wales and local Trust publications.
  • Guided tours of our reserves.
  • Planned volunteering opportunities for employees and their families.
  • Wildlife expertise and consultancy to make your workplace and surroundings more wildlife-focused.
  • Opportunities for sponsorship of reserves, events, and community projects to enhance your corporate responsibility portfolio.
  • Discounted personal membership for employees.
  • Strong community and educational links via your local Trust.
  • Standard and tailored publicity opportunities.
  • Links to other national and local environmental schemes and standards.

Joining Wildlife Partnerships is an excellent way to demonstrate your commitment to Welsh wildlife. Whatever your chosen level of involvement, Wildlife Partnerships is a national, professionally run scheme that is easy to join which provides mutual benefit.

AIMS

Just at the time when society is recognising the need to re-connect with nature, the threats to the Welsh landscape and wildlife are intensifying. Climate change, new roads, other developments, over-fishing and intensive farming methods are combining to present a powerful threat to our environment and hence to the quality of life of the people who live and work here.

The Wildlife Partnerships Scheme, supported by the Countryside Council for Wales and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, will help counteract these threats by achieving three main aims:

  • To engage Welsh businesses in a highly effective mechanism for pursuing sustainability
  • To mobilise the Welsh workforce to protect and enhance its wildlife and wild spaces
  • To provide Wildlife Trusts Wales with increased funds with which to preserve the wildlife of Wales for future generations.

By joining the Welsh Wildlife Partnership Scheme, your business will have an opportunity to support and become involved in wildlife conservation whilst contributing directly to the achievement of corporate responsibility objectives - both social and environmental.

We know that businesses adopt different approaches to corporate responsibility. You may prefer to remain solely profit-focused or simply to make donations to a range of charities. Alternatively you may be involved in active partnerships, perhaps with an emphasis on community or education. You may even seek to integrate sustainability objectives fully within your business planning process. We can help provide a package of involvement and rewards which best suits your organisation.
