Bugeilyn
Bugeilyn is a stream-fed upland lake supporting good numbers of trout. It is thought that the lake may even contain its own indigenous species of fish, Black-finned Trout (Salmo nigripinnis), which has only been found in one other site in Ireland. The now rare Water Vole also finds refuge here.
The lake is surrounded by heather moorland, interspersed with areas of bog, habitats which directly link Bugeilyn to nearby Glaslyn Nature Reserve.
Directions to the reserve: Bugeilyn is located approximately two miles along a rough track at grid reference: SN822923. Access is on foot only; for parking, please see the instructions for nearby Glaslyn.
