Community volunteeringProjects with and for the community

The Trust works with local community, voluntary and statutory agencies to develop outreach projects which promote and connect people and the natural world.

Community volunteering is a great way to meet new people, get fit, learn new skills, gain confidence and help your local wildlife.

Nurtured By Nature provides regular supported volunteering sessions on Wednesday mornings from 10am until 1pm.

The project attracts people from a wide range of ages and abilities to work together for wildlife. The pilot project started in 2009 and continues to be a valuable opportunity for people to gain confidence, increase their skills and make new friends in a healthy outdoor setting.

Mel Chandler, Community Partnerships Officer at the Trust, said "the project at Severn Farm Pond has been a great success and has really helped improve the confidence of some of the volunteers who have a disadvantaged background. The reserve has really benefitted from the volunteer input and is a great site for local people to enjoy."
