Cwm y Wydden
|
Welsh Amazon
A visit to Cwm Y Wydden reserve is a step back in time.
The steepness of the land and the central stream has made
cultivation difficult so nature has been allowed to develop
unhindered for centuries.
And the result? A fantastic eco-system of dark, humid areas
with ferns, moss and lichens and occasional open glades
full of stunning swathes of spring flowers.
Directions to the reserve: At Berriew follow the B4390 towards New Mills. After 1 mile turn left to Felindre and after 0.35 miles, turn right at the end of the village. From here, after 1.1 miles the road veers left, steeply uphill (roadside parking). Follow this road for a further 1.1 miles until reaching the fifth gate on the right (next to a telegraph pole). Roadside parking only. Follow the waymarkers, placed on fence posts, to the reserve. Multimap directions
